How does the Training Work?

Australian Training Professionals are the experts in delivering this qualification having gained extensive experience and a reputation for professionalism and quality whilst operating under our fromer name of Childcare Training Professionals.

Students receive a workbook comprising 15 easy to mange units allowing completion of the qualification with a combination of face-to-face study days (one day every 6 weeks) and self-paced workbooks. Assessment and supportive evidence is done through assessment of the tasks in the workbook.

This Certificate requires 2 weeks (80 hours) of compulsory supervised practical experience within a workplace such as a childcare centre so that skills and knowledge can be observed. Assessment and supportive evidence is done through assessment tasks in your work book, as well as observation and workplace tasks.

The first week of your practical must be completed within the first 8 weeks of course commencement and the second week can be undertaken during the following 4 months. ATP can assist you with finding a workplace so that you are able to undertake these assessments.

Remember, we also offer a free service to all of our students for job placement as we constantly have requests from employers for prospective staff.  This allows you to gain “paid employment” whilst training if you wish to take this opportunity. Employers always look more favorably on candidates who have proof of their abilities, skills and knowledge.

You will need to have a current “Working with Children Check Certificate” prior to any work placement - this is now a legal requirement for anyone working with children.

You can obtain your application from any post office in Australia.

Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL)

The Units of Competency are listed for each qualification on our website and in our information pack. If you have successfully completed any units from the qualifications at another Registered Training Organisation (RTO), we will recognise this study as partial completion of the qualifications.

Download the brochure to learn more or contact us to discuss it further.

Recognition of Current Competencies (RCC)

We also offer an RCC process that ensures you are not required to complete structured training for competencies that have already been achieved, and that you gain appropriate recognition for the competencies you have already acquired.

The RCC process is generally offered to those who have previously worked or are currently working in the industry and are required to complete the qualification. If you think you may be a candidate for an assessment only RPL process, or if you have previously obtained some units of competence then please speak to us regarding prices.

Funded Training

We anticipate that we will receive a number of funded spots for jobseekers in early 2011. These are free training places offered under the productivity place program (PPP). Please ascertain whether you qualify for a funded place before filling out an Expression of Interest form. We will contact prospective students on the waitlist in the new year when funding details are finalised.

Even if you are not a jobseeker you may be eligible for a study bonus or partially funded training for this qualification - learn more about part-funded training.
