How does the Training Work?

Australian Training Professionals are the experts in delivering this qualification having gained extensive experience and a reputation for professionalism and quality whilst operating under our fromer name of Childcare Training Professionals.

Students will undertake the training via a combination of face-to-face study days (one day every 6 weeks) and correspondence workbooks which allow you to complete your qualification at your own pace in the comfort of your own home.

The Diploma requires 3 weeks (120 hours) of compulsory supervised practical experience within a workplace such as a childcare centre so that skills and knowledge can be observed.

This is done in three lots of one week blocks as follows:

  • Week 1: Practical within 0-3 months
  • Week 2: Practical during 3-6 months
  • Week 3: Practical during 6-9 months

Assessment and supportive evidence is done through assessment tasks in your work book, as well as observation and workplace tasks. ATP can assist you with finding a workplace so that you are able to undertake these assessments.

You will need to have a current “Working with Children Check Certificate” and Police Clearance prior to any work placement - this is now a legal requirement for anyone working with children. You can obtain your application from any Post Office in Australia.

Students will also need to obtain a current First Aid Certificate (HLTFA301B) - Australian Training Professionals also offers this training at a discounted rate for past and current ATP students.

Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL)

If you are currently “job competent” and can demonstrate the required skills and knowledge along with the required evidence then look no further. Australian Training Professionals allows you to fast-tracking your qualification through recognised prior learning (RPL). Because you are currently working within the Childcare Industry, we recognise your capabilities and experience. What better way for you to provide the required evidence! We are Australia-wide and only a phone call or email away!

The Units of Competency are listed for each qualification on our website and in our information pack. If you have successfully completed any units from the qualifications at another Registered Training Organisation (RTO), we will recognise this study as partial completion of the qualifications. Please contact us to discuss further.

For Further information please call ATP on (08) 9330 3881 today or download an RPL Application form.

Recognition of Current Competencies (RCC)

We also offer an RCC process that ensures you are not required to complete structured training for competencies that have already been achieved, and that you gain appropriate recognition for the competencies you have already acquired.

The RCC process is generally offered to those who have previously worked or are currently working in the industry and are required to complete the qualification. If you think you may be a candidate for an assessment only RPL process, or if you have previously obtained some units of competence then please speak to us regarding prices.
