There is currently a huge demand for Education Assistants to help teachers in schools by providing classroom support to students with a wide range of severe learning, physical and or behavioural difficulties. Assistants may work in a special school or in a mainstream school.

Certificate IV in Education Support offers Special Needs units for those who would like to work with Special Needs children. Some of the topics covered are;  Children with learning Disabilities, Children with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) and children who have Language, Literacy and Numeracy needs.

Schools are becoming more inclusive, integrating special education students into general education classrooms. Completing the Certificate IV in Education Support will also increase opportunities to work with special needs children or to obtain employment in a special needs school.

Students completing the qualification via correspondence receive a workbook comprising 13-18 easy to manage units (depending on units completed in Certificate III) allowing completion of the qualification with self-paced workbooks. Coursework can be completed in the comfort of your own home, where ever you are. The timeframe for completion is usually 9-12 months inclusive of practical placement.

This course is offered under a partnering agreement with Adapt Education RTO# 32452. All training, assessment and student support for this course is provided by Australian Training Professionals with the certificate being issued in partnership with Adapt Education.

Some job roles may require tasks to be performed with a moderate level of autonomy and/or the provision of supervision/leadership to other staff/volunteers.

100 hours of practical placement and up to an additional 100 hours are required as part of this qualification.

Certificate III in Education Support is a pre-requisite of Certificate IV. Students will receive credit in the Certificate IV for applicable units in the Certificate III already completed. If completed with ATP, 5 units from the Certificate III will be credited (marked with a * below) and the remaining 12 units will only need to be completed.

Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL)

The Units of Competency are listed for each qualification on our website and in our information pack. If you have successfully completed any units from the qualifications at another Registered Training Organisation (RTO), we will recognise this study as partial completion of the qualifications.

Recognition of Current Competencies (RCC)

We also offer an RCC process that ensures you are not required to complete structured training for competencies that have already been achieved, and that you gain appropriate recognition for the competencies you have already acquired.

The RCC process is generally offered to those who have previously worked or are currently working in the industry and are required to complete the qualification. If you think you may be a candidate for an assessment only RPL process, or if you have previously obtained some units of competence then please speak to us regarding prices.
